It’s a dramatic end to the week here on OTW with plenty of purple and gold details that blend beautifully to create a bold and dramatic Maine wedding captured by Casey Durgin Photography. The wedding, held at the bride’s family residence in Neddick, Maine started with a stunning backdrop but was a lot more than just a pretty picture. The details blended the bride and groom, Natalie and Rahul’s, backgrounds; masterfully pulling their different cultures into one fabulous day. Bright with colors, modern with details, and beautiful all the way, this wedding makes for a very happy Friday!

Happy Monday! Well it’s been a dismally cold weekend here in NYC so I needed a little something springy to cheer me up and start thinking about summery wedding and happy pretty things! So peaches and plums it is. My own take on inspiration for this fruity palette today using the.. yep, you guessed it, actual fruit as my guide. And from there just a little of this (plum garter?) and a little of that (a peach wedding dress or purple bridesmaids dresses?) all of which make today’s palette cheery, fun and very springy!

We’re down to single digits on our Christmas countdown… and on the 9th day of Christmas we’re going purple. No white Christmas here, instead we’re bringing a little color to the holiday season. These days, we can’t get enough of purple at weddings. It seems like every time I turn around there’s another purple bridesmaids dress, purple palette, the whole works. But while purple is such a popular winter color, we don’t see it as much during the lead up to Christmas… but it can be a perfect holiday color. Bright, vibrant, and not red…
So because there is just too much purple to choose from we’ve got it all today.. from how to decorate a white Christmas tree purple for your reception, to paper ideas, dessert ideas (macarons obviously – my favorite), floral inspiration, fashion for the ladies and the groom, and I even threw in a peacock inspired boutonniere… because purple is that fabulous of a Christmas color that a peacock boutonniere is okay.

Today officially kicks off the crazies of the shopping season which means we’re kicking off more winter wedding posts! There have been a few here and there because I couldn’t help myself, but now we’re in full swing… So today I wanted something perfect for right after Thanksgiving, just into December, something that works a little bit for fall and a little bit for Christmas and winter. And so… it’s the fabulously sexy eggplant (dark purple) and gold wedding palette!
The beginning of December is funny for a wedding. Is it Thanksgiving? Christmas? Winter? That’s what makes this palette choice a perfect mix. The “eggplant”, a rich deep purple, reminds me more of fall or late winter but blending it with gold makes me think a little more Christmas with the sparkles, lights and glam! So today it’s simple, I’m suggesting combining both for a winter color palette that’s both fancy (gold trimmed cake – first photo, gold sequin heels – second photo, elegant gold lined invites – sixth photo) but fally (eggplant flower boutonnieres – forth photo, purple and blush rose bouquet – tenth photo) with a little touch of winter to come (dark purple bridesmaids dress and winter bouquet – third photo). Sprinkle in some jewels, I love all things Kate & Company including this antique amethyst and gold wedding pendant (fifth photo), and amethyst bracelet (seventh photo). I also have a fab Etsy find in the form of the amethyst and topaz earrings (ninth photo)…. all in all our own little inspiration board (post) for the perfect winter (and fall) eggplant purple and gold wedding palette!

Some of the most memorable wedding palettes come when you combine the right colors with the right themes and for a bold and modern option for our trendy brides-to-be, I can’t get over how “cool” a new Moroccan theme is. So what is new Moroccan? Well, it’s not the traditional patterns and more muted reds, oranges and blues that you think about. It’s a stronger color choice with less patterns. Lots of solid oranges, magentas, reds and purples make up this palette and mix with classic Moroccan pieces (vibrant pillows, sheer draping, traditional lanterns, outdoor tents and low seating) creating a very distinct theme but keeping it modern and stylish all at once…
