Downtown NYC Elegance

Well there is no better way to wrap up a week than in NYC {I know, I’m biased} but there are only few things better than a weekend in Manhattan, especially if it’s for a wedding! And what’s better? An elegant venue {The Downtown Association}, beautiful style choices, and gorgeous images by Branham Perceptions Photography.

A note from the photographer: This styled shoot was done to breathe fresh life into a perfectly delicate pastel palette. Although commonly used in garden/outside spring and summer weddings, these pastel colors of peach, pink, yellow and blue were made to bring warmth indoors and soften a masculine room in the historic, private club and simultaneously enhance one of their elegant dining rooms. Using blooming flowers in conjunction with the sharpness and charming characteristics of the Downtown Association, a lovely New York wedding vision came to life. This shoot also emphasized the adoration and romance of Neil and Melissa St. Clair as recent newlyweds, another perfect element to our pastel inspired romance shoot.

Happy Friday!

Long Island City Love

I always love a good New York City wedding and this one seemed perfect as we’re getting closer to the weekend! And for a little twist, we even added a few engagement shots because they were just too fun to be forgotten! Michael Chadwick Photography shot both the engagement and wedding all over NYC!

From the photographer {Samantha and Adam had a fantastic and fun engagement shoot in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood, followed a few months later by an extraordinarily New York style wedding! The dress was revealed at the top of their ceremony and reception venue, Penthouse 808 in Long Island City. We then boarded a huge party bus for a quick tour of some of New York’s most famous landmarks, including Grand Central Station and a quick tour of Central Park. The wedding and reception were beautiful and elegant, and everyone had an unforgettable time celebrating}

Sending lots of love from NYC!

Understated Elegance…A Brooklyn Wedding

Happy Friday from NYC! I’m always excited about Friday posts (weekend anyone?) but a Friday post is even better when it’s about a gorgeous wedding right in my own backyard (figuratively speaking that is). I’m in Manhattan and this beautiful wedding was just a hop skip and jump away in Brooklyn. Shot by Sarah Hoppes Photography, the wedding and the photos caught my eye right away. I love the cool understated feel of the wedding and am {mildly} obsessed with the venue, The Green Building…you can never go wrong with the exposed brick warehouse feel in New York City. This couple has a beautiful elegance from the bride’s simple and stunning gown to the very stylish groom + groomsmen! And to top it all off, Brooklyn gives the perfect cozy-cool atmosphere for the wedding photos… Happy Friday lovelies!

A New York Inspired Affair

New York City.. it doesn’t get much better than Manhattan (or one of the boroughs) for some wedding inspiration, and that’s just what we’ve got today. So weddings aren’t just about the actual day, there is so much that leads up to that one day, like… dress shopping! I can’t think of many better places to shop for your wedding gown than a NYC boutique, and today we found two that inspire just in pictures! It’s important to find the right bridal shop for you whether it’s big (Kleinfeld’s comes to mind), specific to one designer (we love the Modern Trousseau NYC Bridal Boutique – first photo below), or a little shop with lots of options like The White Gown Boutique in Brooklyn (second photo below). The dress shopping sets the tone for the big day, and you want only the best of options.

And so what about that big day? Well in New York, there are so many competing venues that all seem to be better than the next. From the artsy to the modern, the trendy and the traditional, it’s hard to pick only a few, so for today, two of my favorites. The Bowery Hotel on Manhattan’s lower east side (photos below), is one of the most stunning backdrops for a wedding in New York. It has a bit of everything, the old world charm, the trendy neighborhood setting, the dark crevices and the airy roof making it the ultimate in Manhattan wedding venues. Moving on out of Manhattan into Queens and to The Foundry (photo below), a 19th century antique that once served as a steel foundry. The grounds and building ooze character and the lack of decor makes this venue perfect for a bride looking to really make it her own.

And what’s a New York inspired wedding without some haute couture (if not traditional) bridesmaids choices from Christian Siriano, current NYC resident and NY fashion week darling. Though extreme, this is New York after all (photo below)!
