Trend Alert: Floral Crowns

We are long overdue for some accessory inspiration and for May, I couldn’t think of anything better than the floral crown {or halo}…

Historically, we may not see it as often as, say, the traditional veil or even the birdcage veil but that’s what makes it even more special! Perfect for a Spring wedding, an outdoor affair, or better yet, a garden ceremony, a floral crown can serve as that rustic, earthy, elegant or just unique accessory that you {the bride} or maybe even the flower girl (sixth photo below) can pull off magically!

For the Hat Lover

The wedding hat… I should stop my writing here and let the pictures do the talking…

But how can I resist a bit of commentary on a subject that I have been desperately wanting to write post after post about! Really though, I am dying over wedding hats! I talk a lot about wedding accessories and how important it is to find the little ways to accessorize the big day, but the hat is the ultimate in accessories! Not only is it clothing, but it is fashion AND art! Think back a year to some of the hats made famous after the royal wedding; they are fine pieces of art and I can think of no better way to express yourself at a wedding (as the bride, maid of honor, mother of the bride or a guest) with the perfect hat.

So today, since I couldn’t post 100 hats, I wanted to emphasize more of the “mainstream” hat instead of the artsier pieces (that I am equally obsessed with). So for the more faint of heart, don’t worry there will be no Princess Eugenie or Beatrice creations today (but they will be coming soon!) Enjoy these elegant and more traditional selections for now…

Au Naturel

Au naturel? Yes, for the wedding at least. With Earth Day right around the corner (it is this Sunday..) I figured it was time to go back to our roots in terms of wedding decor so today it’s all about the all natural – earth tones, outdoor weddings, and even some bark place cards!

Seriously though, greenery is not always a part of our wedding plans (except probably for the pictures) but the outdoors can serve as the perfect backdrop for a ceremony and reception. What is so perfect about the outdoors is that your setting can be dressed up or down accordingly. I love the idea of creating an elegant and romantic “earthy” wedding but styling certain pieces like your table setting as though you were in a glamorous country club (check out the place setting below!) You can also pick long bridesmaid dresses to make the atmosphere more formal (I’m keeping with my brown and green palette today with a beautiful dark brown chiffon dress). Remember to blend your touches of elegance with the outdoors (you are after all planning an outdoor wedding!). Fun ways to keep the atmosphere earthy are with these perfect bark place cards and baby plant favors (both below)! And don’t forget the bridal accessories! Instead of a classic veil or sparkling tiara, why not chose a natural wreath or small flower in your hair. Combine these with some fancier decor and before you know it au naturel will be simply gorgeous.. and just in time for Earth Day!
