Christmas Countdown: Groomsmen Gift Guide

Because I couldn’t get enough of bridal party gifts, I thought maybe even the groom would need a little help picking out the perfect gift for his men on the 2nd day of our Christmas countdown! So while we kept things classic and simple, I think these should touch on some basic ideas for a groomsmen gift. From drinking accessories, to cuff links, some shaving items to shoes… yep, shoes {coordinated groomsmen in cute suede shoes (#2) can never be out of style, and if that’s not your thing, how about a comfy moccasin for the after party (#5)} we have a little bit of this and a little bit of that to create a classic groomsmen gift guide!

Into the Heartland (Country Style)

We’re venturing into the heartland today for some down home country wedding inspiration! When I think of “country” I’m imagining a fabulously rustic red barn reception venue, decor in the form of trucks and tractors, boots, boots, boots and lots of red!! Though I’m not really sure why red comes to mind, it just seems to work, at least for my inspiration!

So if I was planning my own country wedding, this is exactly what it would look like! Today we have a little bit of everything country, from the reds, to the vehicles, the backdrops and the shoes. Starting from the top, mix and match bridesmaids dresses seem only appropriate for a country hoedown and a rusted red background brings out the mild colors making them country-esque (first photo below)! As I may have already mentioned, boots are a must, and these red boots are amazing (third photo)! Who wouldn’t want to hide those under the dress! From the boots to the wedding car… I mean truck? Yes that’s right, it’s a pick-up truck today, because there’s no need for romantic when you can have country! The groomsmen are going with a khaki and the decor and barn wedding venue keep with the red country theme, both outdoors or indoors work (or a little of both) as long as they evoke the feelings of being in the country! So there you have it, into the heartland we go for one of my favorite wedding themes… the beautiful country!

Khaki Crazy (Groomsmen Suits)

Well here at One to Wed, we are well past due for a post devoted to our grooms! So today, we’re hoping to overcompensate for the lack of groom-related fashion, discussion and everything groom pretty with one of our favorite ideas for the groom and groomsmen that is just in time for the end of summer.. the khaki suit!

We know you will love this too even if you were always set on The Classic Tux because this style is perfect for the spring, summer, or fall, plus it’s casual, relaxed, and ultra trendy. And my final gush factor; the groomsmen always look SO good… trust me, you cannot go wrong with khaki.

So for today, just some inspiration because we realize there are too many khaki styles and combinations to go through one by one. We’re hoping one of these will catch your eye and capture your wedding style!

April Showers… Ideas for a Rainy Wedding Day

Well I don’t know about the weekend weather in the rest of the world but here on the east coast and in New York City things have been pretty dreary. So I couldn’t help but thinking about the best (and worst) months for a wedding. After Prince William and Kate’s very famous royal wedding last year on April 29th, I’ve been wondering why more people aren’t choosing April as their choice month. And then there was this weekend…. it rained, drizzled, and was just overall gross.

You know what they say… April showers bring May flowers.

But for those April brides-to-be and everyone else who hasn’t picked a date, don’t let a weekend of rain or a little poem fool you. April showers can actually be quite picturesque. Really, this is no April Fool’s day/week prank, I’m very serious! These pictures will leave you not only wishing your own wedding day is at least a little rainy, but you may find yourself planning an April wedding in the hopes of a spring shower yourself.. And you know what else they say aside from April showers bring May flowers?

It’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day…

Happy Showers!

Bermuda Fashion 101: The Shorts

We’ve all heard of Bermuda shorts right? I’m imagining the pale pink or pretty light blue, perfectly hemmed and tailored to fit items sold at the likes of J Crew and Vineyard Vines storefronts. Authentic? Not so much…

Bermuda shorts are actually really spectacular (not tacky) when worn correctly and where do you think the name came from… Bermuda of course! Before popular chain stores were creating a fashion phenomenon of the Bermuda short, men of Bermuda were wearing them around the island for anything from work, to everyday, to yes, you knew I was going here… weddings!

If you are planning a wedding in Bermuda, do not underestimate how incredible a statement your soon to be groom (and his friends) could make with a bit of the old school Bermudian fashion sense. And here are the pictures to prove it. In Bermuda, I’m thinking that a wedding would not be complete without “the Bermuda short”…
