The Loveliest Spring Bridesmaid Dresses

Spring may feel far away (at least for me thanks to these way too chilly temps) but we’re in full on Spring mode here at OTW! And today, we’re all about the fashion. The bridesmaids dress market may seem daunting especially for a Spring wedding because there is, well, just an overwhelming amount of options. Too many colors, style, lengths, designers, prices ranges etc leads to bridal confusion! But why make it more complicated than it is? Whether it’s Spring or any season, you should be choosing dresses that fit your big day, not that fit what the typical bridesmaids dress is. And that’s what makes these springtime picks so refreshing.

When I think of Spring weddings, for me it’s all about flowers, light and airy colors, and light {literally speaking} fabrics. So the dresses don’t have to be what ticks all of the traditional boxes but instead what fits your wedding and the season… and that’s what makes these choices special. I’d like to consider all of these just on the edge of non-traditional but a wonderful edge that every bride should go to to find that.perfect.bridesmaids.dress!!

What’s all the fuss about patterns anyway? Every season there’s always a new trend on the runway, but one that you hear {actually} a lot about is the pattern. Not always the same one, but guaranteed, at least once every season there is a pattern that is the next big thing. But, it’s not that way in the wedding world. How often do you see a to-die-for patterned bridesmaids dress? Well, you just don’t. That is… until you look beyond the norm. There are plenty of patterns out there, and no one is stopping you from finding that perfect one at the vintage store down the street, the department store you grew up with, or that trendy up and coming designer. And that’s the beauty of the patterned bridesmaids dress. It’s not because everyone else is doing it. It’s because you’re making your own little interpretation of the latest runway fad and bringing it straight to the aisle!

Back to the old school patterns today lovelies.. stripes, stripes, and more stripes. With the dullness of winter in full swing I needed a little pick me up to get me into the weekend, so I figure you might too. Is it really only Thursday?? So here’s to hoping some summery/happy/bright strips can get us past today and tomorrow! I actually love stripes, especially this year. It feels like I’m not the only one out there either… haven’t you read that this (well, patterns in general) is predicted to be one of the wedding trends this year? Yep, I’m sure you already knew all about it! Hope you are loving these fabulous stripey ideas (bow ties, table runners, invites, dresses and even some pretty straws) as much as I do in the middle of January…!

Happy 2013 lovely One to Wed readers! Yesterday I couldn’t believe 2012 was ending; today I can’t believe 2013 is beginning! To start the new year off right, and in New Year’s tradition, today is all about the sparkle, glitter and overall dazzle. Time to accessorize for your New Years’s wedding with all things shiny and made of sequins…

On the must-have New Year’s wedding list? The likes of silver glitter bridesmaids dresses, sequin decor – I love the idea of a sparkly table setting, glitter confetti, an embellished wedding gown (a favorite by Monique Lhuillier below), a sequin clutch (a fun choice also below by Betsey Johnson), and of course sparkly pumps for dancing the New Year away…

Trend Alert: The Winter Bridesmaid {In Shades of Grey}

With winter quickly approaching, it’s about time to kick off plenty of fun, creative, and always stylish winter posts… I am SO excited about all of the winter wedding ideas swirling around in my mind, so get ready, we’re covering everything from wedding gowns, accessories, fashion, centerpieces, obviously lots of red and green… and of course everything in between.

But today, I’m talking winter trends which is why I couldn’t help but pick shades of grey winter bridesmaids dresses. There is something about grey these days that has girls going wild so why not express your inner grey with some fun and flirty bridesmaids dresses for the maids! Grey is one of my favorite winter wedding colors because you can do so much with it. You can go very light (almost white… what a crazy wedding idea!) which is perfect for the winter season, or slighter darker, a true light grey (I love the dresses in the second photo below). Next up is the edgy blue-grey… if you’re not sold on true grey, blue grey is for you. I love our blue-grey pick today (forth photo below) because this color is a little warmer than our other shades of grey, if that’s more of your style. Moving onto the medium grey to charcoals. How can you not swoon over these lovely picks (first, and sixth photos by Jenny Yoo, third photo by Sarah Seven). And last on our grey spectrum… the navy. Yep, I said it… navy as a shade of grey. I mean it’s in the same family right? And when I think of different greys, blues seem to just blend in which is why I chose these beautiful navy vintage dresses for my last of the grey picks (fifth photo).

But… I’m not done quite yet! My absolute favorite idea and ultimate trend on the bridesmaids front… the mix and match (last photo). Why not let the maids pick their favorite shade of grey, put them all together, and I promise, there will only be fabulousness on this winter trend front!
