Trend Alert: The Wedding Cowboy Boot

As we make our way toward the holiday season, I have to get all of my non-holiday wedding musings out before we start our very first countdown to Christmas (wedding style)! So that means today, no season related wedding thoughts here… straight country style! In fact trending country style! Now I use “trend alert” lightly here because I realize that glorious wedding cowboy boots are not even close to a new trend and nowhere near going out of style… but in my world that means it’s still trending!

So today we’re going there.. examining wedding cowboy boots and how awesome they are! And this is coming from someone who normally lacks major country style! So why the cowboy boot as a part of your big day? Well for one I bet they’re more comfy than your 4 inch heel alternative. For two, they make really fun pictures, and for three, well they’re different right? You don’t have to be country to love this style because after all they are hidden… so here’s your chance to get crazy. Maybe even pick a loud color, vintage pattern or crazy design?

Golden Clutch

Now that we’re officially in November, I’m feeling like it’s acceptable for lots of winter posts so today we’ve founded some of the best in winter accessories… the gold clutch!

I love gold for weddings, especially in the winter. The color is regal and vibrant plus it goes with just about any palette! So for your winter wedding I’m thinking that the gold clutch is an absolute must!! Whether it’s a treat for yourself and you want to splurge (I know we all do it on wedding shoes so why not the wedding clutch as well) or if you’re looking to accessorize your maids with one signature piece (ie the gold clutch) then we’ve found loads of options for you! Some on the very expensive front, and others on the very budget-friendly front, but all perfect for a wedding day gift to yourself as the bride, or a gift for your bridesmaids!

For the bride, a few of the more expensive (but seriously fabulous options). From the mini, edgy limited edition Bottega Veneta (tenth photo), to the gorgeous Christian Louboutin classy gold (eighth photo) and finally the Miu Miu metallic gold leather from Net-a-Porter at $510 (last photo) these clutches are incredible accessories for the bride, especially if you are willing to splurge…

But because I know we can’t all spend hundreds on our bridesmaids gifts (or ourselves) we’ve managed to find some equally fab clutches on a way more reasonable budget! From Etsy seller Lost in Time, I love this incredible ivory gold brocade purse at only $65 (first photo) and another Etsy find from seller Salvage Life with a vintage 1950s glitter gold purse (twelfth photo). Like to shop at department stores? We found this gorgeous Tasha box clutch with metallic gold mesh from Nordstrom’s (ninth photo), and finally for our most budget-friendly gold clutch… stylish gold beading by Karen Marie at $44 (seventh photo).

Gold clutch anyone?

The Loveliest Bridal Robe

Of all of my so-called favorite wedding ideas, this one is definitely in the top 5 and is SO a must have when you’re prepping and pampering the morning of the big day! Whether you are in your own home, your parents, or a hotel suite, there is so much to do before you find yourself walking down the aisle and nothing calms the mind more than a mimosa and an amazing prep outfit… and so I introduce the fabulous bridal robe! These aren’t just the white silk robes with the writing “Bride” on the back..these are the prettiest and most stylish bridal accessory that you MUST HAVE! These, by Plum Pretty Sugar, use beautiful floral fabrics and invoke imagery of a kimono (in the form of a robe!) For the morning of your wedding day they are simply a must for yourself, and make a fun gift for your bridesmaids as well! Enjoy the pretty!

The Art of Wedding Lipstick

Lately I’ve been thinking about how much I love lipstick!! It’s like this amazing pop of pink, red, blush, coral that makes you stand out even without a full face or gloppy make-up so why not take it one step further than wearing your favorite color out to lunch or a first date… pick the right shade and make it a part of your wedding day!

Now here’s the bad news… you CAN GO WRONG! Please avoid gothic or 80′s shades (that includes anything in the realm of magenta pinks, all shades of purple, and just black in general). But I’m hoping you aren’t that type of bride anyway?? Now the beauty of it is that most colors do work! Of course pick the right shade for your skin and the time of year. For example, for a bold look I love how a fair skin tone and deep red lipstick blend perfectly for a winter wedding, but if you are fair and having a beach summer wedding please no deep coral shades… ehhh not so pretty. Try something more in the pink family that goes with your cool, fair skin tone!

But do not fear… Even with all the “what not to do’s”, picking the perfect color is important but hardly impossible! There are about 1 billion websites that you could find even more than a billion articles on lipstick shades that match your skin tones so do your research, search for some pretty inspiration in pictures (these are a great start), and practice (yes that’s right, don’t leave the lipstick reveal for the big day… get a sense of how it looks before so you know that it will be just right at the wedding! Oh and don’t forget to touch up throughout the day… it does fade you know!

The Wedding Palette – Golden Touch

The color gold makes me think of fame and riches, ornate interiors, and pretty, old buildings… but aside from all of this, it’s such a perfect wedding color! And even better, there are plenty of ways to dazzle your wedding with different touches of gold making it a fun choice for nearly every bride..

I love different gold wedding accessories like, well, your dress (this may be only for those die-heart gold fans), or an ornate, baroque style gold ballroom (both below), but if you’re on the more conservative side when it comes to the gold highlights on your wedding day, just use it in your palette as an accent color for, say, your cake, your heels, the specialty drink of the day, some elegant (if not heavy) beaded necklaces, the table setting, or for the ribbon on your bouquet (photos below). Each of these helps put a little sparkle into your wedding day but at the same time none of these options is too overwhelming; the gold just adds the glamour factor that no wedding should go without!
