"Spooktacular" Ideas for a Halloween Wedding

Happy Halloween my lovely brides-to-be! To celebrate in Halloween wedding style, I wanted to keep my ideas to a Halloween minimum.. as in no witches, too many oranges or just any other over the top Halloween ideas. If you’re on the fence over a Halloween wedding (or don’t have another date to choose from), it’s time to think outside of the box as far as wedding ideas go for this holiday, because you can make your big day incredibly fashionable with the right choices.

Firstly, the venue. You don’t need to decorate it with cobwebs, but you can choose a place with “atmosphere”. I am thinking rustic is the way to go here so you have the feel but not the weird decorations. Check out ThorpeWood (first and twelfth photos) if you’re in the Maryland area! Otherwise, the rustic vibe translates easily to many wedding venues, so I promise you can find one!

Next up… food! You walk a fine line here by going overboard but still “celebrating” the holiday. I am obsessed with pumpkin ale and particularly love the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale (third photo). It’s festive, but everyone has beer at their weddings so it’s a perfect substitute for the normal picks. On the dessert front, be subtle.. I adore cupcakes (as you probably know), and love our forth photo, simple chocolate cupcakes with a light peach icing. You can get playful with the dessert table, choose fun desserts in modest Halloween colors like blacks and tans (seventh photo), and spice them up with burnt orange and cream twine! For the actual table (eleventh photo), maybe steer clear of the cobwebs like this one (though they can work if done elegantly) but make the table stand out in style.

Finally the decor, I love our place cards (fifth photo), table setting (sixth photo), and of course the cupcake toppers (ninth, tenth and last photo).
